Dear Sister is a video installation that started as a written letter in 2011. Since then it has been performed as a poetry-reading, as well as exhibited in the form of text, sound and video-installation.
The letter is a personal and intimate text that addressees the importance of regaining the “I” of the writer. It uses a descriptive type of language that bounces between futility and transcendence; shaping a mental space in an attempt to bridge a misplacement between Buenos Aires and Rotterdam. The piece also addresses the affective qualities of writing and the importance of the misuse of language such as mistranslations and misspellings for the re-writing of personal and collective memories.
