Cuentos Mestizos is a monographic book that brings together the practice of Mercedes Azpilicueta throughout the years 2011-2022. The book is bilingual (English and Spanish) and was initiated and published by Fundacion Maria Jose Jove (A Coruña) and Turner Libros (Madrid). Cuentos Mestizos was designed by the Galician collective desescribir [Cibrán Rico & Suso Vázquez], and published in December 2022 with an essay by Manuel Segade, Hermosa Compostura [Oh For a Lovely Scene] and a conversation between Susana Gonzalez and Mercedes Azpilicueta.

Cuentos Mestizos was presented at ARCO, Madrid with Manuel Segade and Susana Gonzalez in February 2023. It was also presented at ArteBA, Buenos Aires with Veronica Rossi and Laura Hakel in September 2023.

Cuentos Mestizos was declared “Excellent Work” and selected for the Tokyo TDC Annual Awards 2024 in the category Editorial / Book Design.
The book has also been shortlisted at the prestigious D&AD awards in London in 2023.
